1Overview

The Advance CBSA Declaration is a digital customs, immigration and agriculture declaration filed with the Canada Border Services Agency before flying into Canada. It is not a visa and gives no permission to travel.

Once submitted, it lets the traveler use the express kiosk and eGate lanes on arrival instead of filling in a paper card.

Who needs it

  • Required for everyone flying into one of the participating Canadian airports, whatever the citizenship: visitors, permit holders, returning citizens and permanent residents.
  • eTA and visa holders must still file one.
  • Every traveler needs a separate declaration, including infants and children.
  • Requirements may vary by nationality.
Entry points: Air arrivals only, where a participating Canadian airport is the first point of entry.

  • If no declaration was submitted, it has to be completed manually at a kiosk or eGate, which is slower.
