The eVisitor (Subclass 651) is an electronic travel authorisation for citizens of eligible European countries making short tourism or business visits to Australia.
It is linked electronically to the passport; no label or stamp is issued.
Who needs it
- Open to citizens of eligible European countries.
- British National (Overseas), British Overseas Territories Citizen, British Overseas Citizen, British Protected Person and British Subject passport holders do not qualify and need a Visitor visa.
- Travellers from other countries such as the US or Canada may need an ETA (Subclass 601) or Visitor visa (Subclass 600).
- Each traveller, including children on a parent's passport, needs their own authorisation.
- The applicant must be outside Australia when applying and when the decision is made.
- As it is limited to European citizens, an Indian passport holder does not appear eligible.
